This project resulted in the complete refurbishment of the entire main street of the busy commuter town of Ashbourne. In Phase 1 JCL installed primarily natural stone paving along with major service upgrades. Phase 2 centred around the installation of new concrete footpaths and separated cycle tracks

 

Key Features

 

  • 10,000m3 excavation across the entire site
  • 750m of Drainage pipelines, ranging from 225mm – 450mm diameter installed in the live road with 90 new gullies and connections
  • 9,000m of ducting and all associated chambers– including traffic signals, ESB, public lighting and communications, all in urban locations
  • 7,000m2 road surfacing and 3,000m cycle track surfacing
  • 1,200m of natural granite kerbs and 3,700m2 of granite paving – 1400m2 of 80mm thick precast paving was also installed for trafficked areas and crossings
  • 2,500m of concrete kerbs with 4,000m2 concrete footpaths
  • Major traffic signals installation with three new junctions and two pedestrian crossings
  • New public lighting network with 45 new lighting columns
  • Street furniture and soft landscaping
  • Major pedestrian and traffic management throughout the course of the project
  • Substantial third party liaison notably with local residents and businesses
