JCL fulfilled the role of Main Contractor and PSCS on this major, high end urban renewal project designed to transform the heart of Waterford City

Key Features

  • 4,000m2 of natural stone paving, primarily Irish Limestone and Portuguese granite, laid in combination of public squares and existing streets
  • Constructed in the historic centre of Waterford City with an archaeologist on site for the full duration and working around historic and listed structures
  • Major service upgrades throughout the scheme including stainless steel recessed service covers and slot drains, including tie-in to existing live networks
  • Construction of reinforced concrete walls clad in Ashlar Limestone
  • Substantial traffic and pedestrian management throughout the cheme, with access maintained for residents and businesses
  • Procurement and management of specialist subcontractors, notably for public lighting, paving and surfacing
  • Tie-ins to existing live watermain network
  • Liaison with local community regarding the works and access through them was a key feature of the project
  • Nominated for the 2016 Rosa Barbara International Landscape Prize
