Heritage Structures

Our Heritage Structures Offering

Working on heritage structures entails very different and specific requirements from working on standard structures, including; Understanding of conservation theory Acknowledging and respecting the value of the structures and their place within our communities and environment Working with different representatives such as Conservation Architects and Heritage Officers Flexible and adaptable approach is vital – with these structures different challenges and issues often arise as the works progress – having the capability and processes to deal with these changes, without any negative impact on the project as whole is key

HERITAGE

JCL have completed works on the likes of Beallaclugga Bridge, Listowel Bridge, Macroom Bridge, Slane Bridge – all of which are listed as national monuments. We have proven ability to construct civil works in an environment where the fabric of the existing structure is of fundamental importance

EXPERIENCE

We have built, widened, strengthened and repaired bridges, ranging from timber footbridges to concrete motorway bridges, over and under live railways and roads and over rivers and canals. This background gives us access to a wealth of experience and knowledge, which we can in turn offer to our Clients.

HEALTH & SAFETY

Most civil structures involve substantial risk, with roads/rail/water adjacent to the works, working at heights, major temporary works, existing live services and interface with the public. JCL have invested heavily and have both the systems and the trained personnel to implement them.

N22 MACROOM FOOTBRIDGE

This challenging project involved the installation of a steel footbridge onto the existing, 70m long nine arch, designated national monument road bridge, dating from approximately 1800 and carrying the N22 (Cork – Killarney)
