JCL were 33.3% stakeholders in the Joint Venture which delivered this key project, which upgraded the Dublin-Kildare line from 2 track to 4 track network

Key Features

- Substantial earthworks over 8km to construct a new track bed adjacent to the existing live railway line – 200,000m3 imported materials

- Complete drainage network for the new layout including alteration of the existing drainage 

- Demolition of existing masonry arch bridge over the live railway during a night time possession

- Construction of new 35m span bridge with 1000m2 insitu concrete deck over the live railway line and two new link footbridges to connect the new bridge to the existing adjacent road bridge 

- Construction of new station building on the previously constructed bridge with substantial structural steel, blockwork, slate tiling and cladding, glazing and stainless steel balustrading

- Access stairs and lifts shafts from the station building to the 4 new platforms underneath

- Full platform construction including major temporary works immediately adjacent to the live line

- Complete fit out of the new station including major MEICA element tying the station into the Iarnrod Eireann network

- 100m span enclose footbridge over the new expanded railway line and the Adamstown Link Road

- All works constructed adjacent to the live Cork Dublin Railway line, the busiest intercity line in the country
