Description: This high profile project was carried out by Cradock Jons JV, a joint venture between JCL and Jons Civil Engineering. The project reopened the Midelton - Glounthaune Railway line. The linear works included 10 km of track bed earthworks and refurbishment works to ten bridges.
The project also included the refurbishment of Midelton Train Station and the construction of a new station at Carrigtwohill. Large car parks were also constructed at both locations.
Kildare Route Project Contract 2

Description: JCL completed this propject as part of a Joint Venture with Clonmel Enterprises and Jons Civil Engineering. The overall scope of the project was the transformation of 7km of the Dublin-Cork Rialway line from a two track system to a four track system, between Fonthill and Hazelhatch.
The works included the construction of a new station at Kishogue, which invovled construction of a 32m span bridge. JCL also constructed three 200m long platforms. There were major subcontracts, particularly M&E, Structural Steel, Roofing, Tiling, Glazing, Balustrades and Handrails.
Rush & Lusk Station Development

Description: JCL completed these two projects, Station Development and Car Park Development, simultaneously at the busy Rush & Lusk commuter station in Co. Dublin.
The car park works involved a large extension and compleet redevelopment of the existing car park. The overall capacity was increased to 300 spaces.
The station works included reconstruction and surfacing of the platforms, complete refurbishment of the station building and installation of new lift shafts and a new footbridge.
The station and car park remained fully operational for the duration of the works
Donabate Station Development

Description: This project was the second accessibility project that JCL carried out on the Belfast line. The project invovled the temporary closure of the station building and installation of temporary office facilities for the station staff. JCL then carried out a complete internal fit-out. The platforms were also completely upgraded.
New lift shafts and a new footbride were installed. Large quantities of the work were carried out at night so as not to disrupt Iarnrod Eireann operations.
Skerries Station Redevelopment

Description: This project consists of the complete redevelopment of the train station in Skerries,Co. Dublin. This project was carried out as part of the Belfast Route Accessibility Project.
Both platforms have been fully reconstructed with the CCTV/PA and Public Lighting Systems being upgraded. All of the platform works were carried out during nighttime possessions of the line. No train services were affected by these works.
A temporary ticket office was installed and the station building completely upgraded, primarily using specialist subcontractors before the building was handed over to Iarnrod Eireann staff
Portmarnock & Howth SET Buildings

Description: This project consisted of the construction of two new SET buildings at Portamrnock and Howth, Co. Dublin. The works included initial excavation and concrete slab construction, followed by in-situ concrete roof. Most internal and external finishes were carried out by subcontractors under JCL direction.
Footpaths, fencing and surfacing outside of the building were then completed by JCL
IE Emergency Works

Description: These works were emergency works for Iarnrod Eireann at two locations, Arklow and Wicklow. The works include stabilistation of collapsed embankments, with large quantities of earthworks and an extremely tight timeframe, as the rail lines had been closed due to the collapses.
JCL were also required to carry out additional drainage and accomodation works for teh landowners in both cases
Mullingar Station Development

Description: This project consisted of a number of different elements, with both platform and bridge works being involved. An existing rail bridge was extended, which required piling to be installed and a substantial retaining wall to be constructed.
A new platform was also constructed along with the complete refurbishment and extension of the existing platform. Alteration works were also carried out to the existing station underpass.
Laytown Station Disabled Access Facilities

Description: This project cionsisted of the construction of a footbridge and lift shafts at Laytown Station along with platform and access upgrades. The main subsontracts included structural steel, bloackowrk and supply and installation of lifts. The station was kept fully operational for teh duration of the works.
JCL have completed similar projects at Portarlington, Templemore, Athlone and Portlaoise Stations
Portarlington Train Station Car Park

Description: This project, which JCL were awarded as part of the Iarnrod Eireann Car Parks Framework, consisted of the construction of a large extension to the car park at Portarlington Station, as well as the complete refurbishment of the existing car park.
The works included earthworks, ducting and drainage, wall construction and kerbing, surfacing and linemarking.
O'Connors Level Crossing Replacement

Description: This level crossing replacement in Co. Roscommon invovled the construction of an underpass under the existing railway line. The underpass was a pre-cast concrete box culvert, which was installed in one 24 hour possession of the line.
Approach roads to either side of the underpass were also constructed before the existing level crossing was closed
Tulla Bridge, Ennis

Description: This contract consisted of the replacement of a rail over road bridge outside Ennis. After the design and implementation of a substantial traffic management plan,the existing bridge was demolished, and replacement pre-cast concrete bedstones and deck installed by JCL.
Seperate pedestrian access was provided by means of a culvert and barriers and rail holders were installed on the bridge. The faces of the bridge were then clad in masonry.
Limerick Junction Station Car Park

Description: This project consisted of a large extension to the existing car park. Initial works included demolition of a section of the existing platform and canopy. Earthworks, ducting, paving and surfacing were carried out.
The project also included the construction of a large masonry clad boundary wall.
